Why Riu Atoll?
This place is on an uninhabited island in the Maldives. There’s an infinity pool with a swim-up bar, plus it was built right on a wedding dress-white beach.
Suites are scattered on stilts above the water, many with direct access down to the aqua-coloured, shallow lagoon. An infinity pool will vie for your attention, as will the three themed restaurants.
You’ll get to use a lot of the facilities at the Riu Atoll – another hotel that’s just been built on the island next door. These facilities include a hotel-run kids’ club, live music at night and a spa.
To get to the Riu Palace Maldivas, you’ll take a scenic domestic flight followed by speedboat transfer. It’s worth thinking about your luggage, too, as the hold allowance for speedboats is 22kg, and 5kg for hand luggage. You’ll be charged extra at the airport if you go over the limit

This place’s beachfront location means it’s as easy to relax on the sand as it is by the infinity pool. Free-to-use sunloungers by both the pool and the ocean mean laidback days of tanning are hassle-free.
There’s a large infinity pool to enjoy here, it comes with a swim-up bar and is surrounded by sunloungers and parasols.
For little ones there’s a kids’ pool over at the neighbouring Riu Atoll.
Two themed restaurants, a buffet joint and a swim-up bar total the food and drink offering at this place. Two of the restaurants require reservations, and one of them is dedicated solely to Japanese cuisine.
The Palm buffet restaurant is the main restaurant here, it offers a variety of cuisine with live cooking stations and a sun terrace, so you can soak up the rays whilst dining here. There’s luxuries like sparkling wine at breakfast, lunch includes pasta, salad and dishes prepared live, whilst dinner is a similar affair, offering a themed buffet twice a week.
To grab a drink, the Paradise pool bar is on hand, and with a swim-up section you won’t even have to leave the pool. Just to let you know the swim-up service is for over 18s.
If you’re after something different, Krystal is on hand offering a blend of cuisine. Just so you know, you’ll need to book in advance to dine here.
Savour the flavours of Japan at Yu Hi à la carte restaurant. You’ll need to book in advance to get a table here.
Just a small stroll away on the neighbouring Maafushi island, you’ll be able to visit the Beef Steak House at the Riu Atoll. Just so you know, guests can dine here once per stay, and you’ll need to make a reservation in advance.
For a taste of Italy you only have to wander across to the neighbouring Maafushi island to the Riu Atoll, where you’ll be able to book a table at their Sofia Italian restaurant.
At the Riu Atoll you’ll find the Boduberu lounge bar. It has a terrace, so sipping a drink in the sun is an option.
Access to the 24-hour sports bar at the neighbouring Riu Atoll is included in your stay.
You can use the steam room and gym in the Riu Atoll spa next door. It offers up a long list* of massages and beauty treatments, too.
Wellness centre*
The wellness centre at the Riu Atoll helps you reach true relaxation on your holiday. Offering a variety of treatments including massages, you’ll also find a beauty salon and hairdressers within the centre.
Gym
If you fancy keeping up your gym routine whilst away, there’s free access to the gym at the neighbouring Riu Atoll. Access to the gym is restricted to over 18s only.

When it comes to activities, you’ll want to head to the Riu Atoll on the island next door – it’s a short walk over a bridge to get there. Daily workouts with other guests will be on the agenda, plus you can take advantage of two brand new experiences – AeroYoga and Paddle yoga. Explore the Indian Ocean over at the sister hotel where you’ll be able to hire kayaks, pedalos and snorkeling equipment. Children are taken care of at the hotel-run kids’ club, also at the sister hotel.
Over on the neighbouring Maafushi island, you’ll find a playground for children within the Riu Atoll.
You can take part in daily fitness activities at the RiuFit area at the neighbouring Riu Atoll, just a small walk across to Maafushi island.
