All inclusive: 7 nights at Serry Beach Resort, in Hurghada, Egypt

The huge pool sits at the centre of the resort, a few steps away from the sand. It’s lined by single and double sunloungers. A bunch of them are set under a cabana, which provides shade from the Egyptian heat. Adrenaline-seekers, meanwhile, can try out the waterpark – it’s got a wave pool, seven slides for adults and eight smaller flumes for youngsters.

This place lines up five restaurants – the main one has an authentic market feel, with live-cooking stations whipping up the likes of steak tacos and koftas. You’ve also got an open-air terrace which serves up Asian finger food and sushi and a beach club where you can order salads and fish tacos to your sunlounger. To top it off, there’s a seafood restaurant right by the sea and a rooftop terrace which dishes up Arabic mezze. Lots of the restaurants double up as bars, serving drinks throughout the day. There’s a lounge which majors in cocktails and tea, too, as well as a nightclub which serves drinks into the early hours.

It’s self-serve in the buffet restaurant with its six live cooking stations. And for evening meals, there are family-friendly and adults-only time slots – the former is from 6.30pm ’til 7.30pm, with the latter following on ’til 8.30pm. And thereafter it’s open to all.

Nur Beach Club

Expect grilled meats cooked over coal. Dinnertime is from 6.30pm onwards, however, the bar’s open from 11am for drinks. And you can order a shisha pipe*, too.

Sokar | Fish/seafood restaurant

Dinner is served between 6.30pm and 11pm – tuck into seafood specialties. Guests can dine at Sokar, once a week, for free, as per All Inclusive.

Keif Fusion Gastro Bar
Offering Asian-fusion finger food as well as sushi – served from 6.30pm. Meanwhile, drinks are on hand 24/7.

Little ones have whole days of action planned, from pottery workshops and magician tutorials during the day, to family cinema sessions and mini-discos in the evening. Later on in the night, there are live shows, like Egyptian Folkloric performances, international dance performances, live singers and competitions. If you want to continue the evening, you can head to the nightclub – it’s reminiscent of an underground cabaret, and acts perform nightly to add to the upbeat, nostalgic vibe.
